TITLE: Sr. Lead Architects & Engineers/Contractors Professional Liability Underwriter
WORK LOCATION(s): Chicago, IL, Mt Kisco, NY, New York, NY or Atlanta, GA (Up to 10% regional travel only)
HYBRID: Hybrid (minimum 2 days on-site)
SALARY: $130-$160K (DOE)
Citizenship Requirements: Must be US Citizen or Green Card Holder
Staff to oversee: There is no leadership responsibility, just a heavy hitter by establishing a new line of business, and AECP underwriting skills.
REQUIREMENTS:
We are looking for a Sr. Level, experienced, well-established AECP Underwriter who not only knows how to underwrite the class professionally but also has significant contacts with producers in the industry, thus enabling meaningful production results.
Must have Architects & Engineers/Contractors Professional Liability Underwriter experience and work very well with brokers.
Do you enjoy creative problem-solving and working independently in a collaborative team environment? Proven ability to underwrite both Architects, Engineers, and Contractors Professional is strongly required.
Our client’s Cyber & Professional Lines Group seeks a Sr. Lead AECP (Architects & Engineers/Contractors Professional) Underwriter to join their Architects & Engineers and Contractors Professional Liability Team in Chicago, IL, Mt Kisco, NY, New York, NY or Atlanta, GA, regional office location. This position will report to the Vice President of Underwriting.
The Architects & Engineers and Contractors Liability products are designed to provide coverage for specified professionals. As professionals, architects, engineers, scientists, and contractors face potential liabilities that place them at considerable financial risk because of the type and quality of services they deliver to their clients.

“As we continue to grow within our AECP team, we are looking for a heavy hitter and a strong underwriter to grow the Northeastern and Midwest region.

Our next priority is to find the Heavy Hitter AECP Underwriter position for Chicago, ATL, or NY only. They must have a strong broker relationship, marketing still to grow the portfolio, a big following amongst retail brokers in PLAN or aeProNet, and strong AECP underwriting experience. Three to five years of relevant and progressive underwriting experience in Architects & Engineers and Contractors Professional Liability or related areas.
There is an upcoming aeProNet Conference, and I hope to connect with some of the candidates who have attended the conference with strong AECP underwriting and marketing experience.
The goal for the team is to grow the market as it has been revolving, and our client is looking to place its footprint within Chicago, ATL, and NY.
Comp range: 115,000 – 160,000 *Please keep in mind it is based on the location and experience*
Hybrid: The location is near one of our office locations (Chicago, ATL or NY)
Position Overview
This is a new role on the team and there no other Business Development Representatives on this team so the AECP will not inherit a book of business. The AECP Underwriter must be well experienced in establishing new lines of business.
Under general supervision, identifies, develops, and maintains strategic relationships with current and potential producers of profitable business for the company within assigned marketing region. The Sr. Lead AECP Underwriter will be responsible for underwriting new and renewal business and growing their individual portfolio of accounts and developing relationships between our key customers and our underwriters to achieve our teams shared objectives.
