TITLE: Software Engineer Manager

LOCATION: Encino, CA

Job Responsibilities

• Allocate Engineering resources based on skill sets and team needs
• Ensure Engineers are following coding and agile best practices
• Assist Engineers with creative solutioning and production support troubleshooting
• Organize and facilitate technical meetings
• Participate in code reviews, design sessions, technical root cause analysis, and scrum meetings
• Effectively communicate and document technical requirements through the use of UML diagrams.
• Act as a Corporate IT liaison as needed
• Work with Engineers to accurately estimate the scope and effort required to deliver complex projects.
• Track Engineering performance metrics, including creating relevant Jira reports, and recommend/implement improvements
• Mentor developers, helping them improve their skillsets and providing performance feedback as needed.
• Regularly hold 1:1 meetings with team members to ensure ongoing employee development and satisfaction.
• Be passionate about driving and leading your team to success and help them to improve and excel.
• Continuously deepen knowledge and understanding of emerging technological trends in software engineering and recommend implementation solutions.

 Skills & Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related computer technical field:
• 5+ years of experience in an Engineering Manager role managing several developers:
• 5+ years prior experience w/ with OOP languages such as Java, PHP, C# or C++:
• 3+ years prior working experience in front-end web development:
• Substantial knowledge of relational databases such as MySQL:
• Knowledge of software engineering concepts and best practices, including agile methodologies, coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations:
• Ability to build strong partnerships at all levels of our team and have proven leadership skills in listening, influencing, and coordinating:
• Strong collaborative and communication skills – Able to work with product managers, QA engineers, business users, senior management, and external groups:
• Experience with release management – ticket versioning, branch management, tracking, reviewing, and deploying releases:
• Proven track record of building high-performing teams and delivering on operations SLAs and KPIs:
• Outstanding analytical skills – able to assist developers when necessary to remove technical impediments:
• Experience with service-oriented and event-driven system architectures:
• Substantial prior hands-on experience with AWS technologies:
• Demonstrated experience in leading and managing an engineering team to build and operate cloud services in a public cloud platform:
