Staff to oversee: There is no leadership responsibility, just a heaving hitter by establishing a new line of business, and AECP underwriting skills are a plus.

REQUIREMENTS:

Our client’s Cyber & Professional Lines Group seeks an AECP Lead Business Development Representative to join our Architects & Engineers and Contractors Professional Liability Team in our Chicago, IL, Mt Kisco, NY, New York, NY or Atlanta, GA, regional office location. This position will report to the Vice President of Underwriting.

Our client’s Architects & Engineers and Contractors Liability products are designed to provide coverage for specified professionals. As professionals, architects, engineers, scientists, and contractors face potential liabilities that place them at considerable financial risk because of the type and quality of services they deliver to their clients.

Position Overview

Under general supervision, identifies, develops, and maintains strategic relationships with current and potential producers of profitable business for the company within assigned marketing region. The Lead Business Development Representative will be responsible for underwriting new and renewal business

and growing their individual portfolio of accounts and developing relationships between our key customers and our underwriters to achieve our teams shared objectives.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Responsible for developing new business opportunities through outside sales and marketing to brokers within assigned territory. Initial close watch on relationships to assess if company should continue new business relationships.
2. Manage and increase existing blocks of business. Develop a strong relationship with broker through onsite visits and resolving client issues in a timely fashion.
3. Underwrite and grow your own portfolio of both Architects and Engineers and Contractors Professional Accounts.
4. Work with our claims staff and panel counsel to provide value-added services and assistance to our insureds.
5. Foster additional business opportunities through writing of correspondence and attending trade shows.
6. Conduct sales calls to cultivate and maintain long-term client relationships.
7. Monitor competitor pricing and industry trends to identify marketplace characteristics. Keep abreast of the industry trends.
8. Monitor producer quote ratio, close-ratio, renewal persistency, and loss ratio. Adapt marketing strategy as needed.
9. Responsible for keeping the Underwriting staff informed on current and prospective client status as well as industry trends and direct information on our competitors. Motivate and support the Underwriting department in meeting the annual departmental goals.
10. Work closely with the Vice President of Underwriting and the Senior Vice President of Underwriting on new and existing business decisions. Keep abreast of the industry trends.
11. Develop and implement specific marketing strategies and materials.

Position Knowledge, Skills, and Requirements

Education:

1. 4 Year / Bachelors Degree in Business, Finance, Law, Marketing, Science, Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field, or the equivalent education and/or experience
2. Six Years of relevant and progressive professional experience.
3. Proven ability to underwrite both Architects and Engineers and Contractors Professional.
4. Possess and have the ability to apply broad knowledge of principles, practices, and procedures.
5. Excellent written and verbal communications skills with an emphasis on confidentiality, tact, and diplomacy
6. Exceptional organizational and analytical skills; demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously
7. Knowledgeable of industry changes, legal updates, and technical developments related to applicable area of the Company’s business to proactively respond to changing business environment
8. Advanced proficiency and experience using Microsoft Office Package (Excel, Access, PowerPoint, Word)
